Manufactured food and drink products contain high amounts of sugar, which causes various health problems for this reason sugary products should be made more expensive to discourage people from consuming sugar and sugary goods. I disagree with the opinion of making sugary items more expensive.
Making sugary items more expensive is not the right approach for encouraging people to consume less sugar. There are different classes of people in our society, if we make sugary products more expensive then the lower-class people will suffer the most, they will never be able to afford any kind of sugary items because of the high price tag. On the other hand, higher-class people will still be able to afford the sugary products regardless of the high price tag. So, this approach will not serve the real purpose of encouraging people to consume less sugar. This approach can result negatively.
To encourage people to consume less sugar we can take other necessary initiatives. The first initiative could be making effective advertisements containing the bad health effects of consuming high amounts of sugar and sugary items. The second initiative could be arranging different types of seminars from where people can learn the bad effects of consuming higher levels of sugary items, how higher amount of sugar in the body can create different health concerns, which problems could arise if we are not aware of consuming sugary products and how we can maintain the blood sugar level properly. Moreover, other initiatives could be limiting sugary items stocked in the market, making banners that will describe the bad effects of consuming higher amounts of sugar and lastly, we can try to find the best alternatives to sugar.
In conclusion, making sugary items more expensive is not the proper solution for the upper discussed agenda. Rather, we need to consider a solution that will serve the purpose properly and will not create any problem or burden to any group of people.
