Many people think that standardized testing is the best way to check students’ progress. They believe such exams are fair because all students answer the same questions. It is also easier for schools and universities to compare results. For example, in many countries, these tests decide who can enter university. Governments also use them to measure the general level of education.
However, other people argue that standardized tests do not show the real abilities of students. They usually test memory and exam skills, but not creativity or problem-solving. For instance, a student who is talented in art, music, or leadership may not get a high score. At the same time, the pressure of exams brings stress and makes learning less enjoyable.
I personally think that standardized testing is not the best way to measure knowledge. It really can limit creativity and ignore many important skills. That is why I believe schools should also use other methods, such as projects and presentations, to see the full potential of students
