A number of people think that declining the wage gap among the members of a society is the best way to make them happier. I totally agree with this statement.
Firstly, going forward to income equality lead to higher levels of self-confidence، resulting in cheerfulness. Psychologically, sadness is one of the results of comparing earnings with the wealthy. That is, individuals feel incompetent since they are incapable of doing what the rich are able to purchase. However, the less differences in income, the less comparison between people and the higher level of confidence and happiness. Besides that, people would become more motivated. It is an undisputed fact that significant inequality in income prevents people from endeavor for their lives, because even if they try their best, they cannot achieve what they desire; hense, they might prove lazy and aimless, leading to unhappiness. Though, reducing differences of revenue is a motivation for trying hard to make a decent life as the rich have made.
On the other hand, there are some people who claim that diminishing earnings inconsistency between the members of a society is not responsible for their happiness. As a matter of fact, it is a tough situation for some prestigious jobs such as doctors and engineers to accept and become happy of equivalence in income inasmuch as they believe their job demands are higher than other jobs like a janitor or cashier. However, psychologically important fact is that for mental health, people need to become happy from other humans’ happiness.
In conclusion, although some people disagree with it, I believe that declining income differences bring happiness and cheerfulness to a community.
