The 15-minute city concept means, that everything you need locates nearby your home. This concept has a lot of advantages, because it brings you a huge comfort. According to some people’s opinions, it could also reduce the emission of toxic waste and air pollution. I think it works just like that: you don’t drive your car much, and don’t use taxi also. So, toxic gases that were produced by cars won’t be emited, and also a lot of waste because of cars that are broken too.
So, others say that it could divide people on categories, and also make people more financially dependent. It could be also true, because I think that all the essential services would gather in the centre of city, but not everyone can afford accommodation there. Therefore, the transport ain’t free, so poor people would have to pay if they need to arrive to any of this services fast. Also, most probably, services can become more expensive, because people who lives in the citie’s centre and have much money to prefer comfort rather than money saving can pay such a lot of money.
What about my opinion, I can’t say anything concrete. I live in the centre of Uzbekistan’s capital, so for me 15-minute city would be very nice system. But I can say, that centre of Tashkent is such a 15-minute city. But I also think about poor people, that could face with a lot of problems with it. Thus, students that have only started to work or just graduated from universities.
In conclusion, I want to say that 15-minute city is a nice system, but not ideal. Additionaly, this system already exists in a lot of countries.
