In recent years, severe flooding makes a great impact on numerous inhabited regions across the globe. It is undeniable that human activity is the main cause of this phenomenon. In this essay, I will explain how humanity contributes to this kind of extreme climate and propose solutions to address these challenges.
Humans have engaged in various actions which damaged our earth over time. Agricultural practice, for example, people overuse lands to plant more crops, which can lead to increased production and higher profits in short term. However, in long run, it may result in damage to the environment and deforestation, which can cause flooding because people remove trees that absorb rainwater. Furthermore, the burning of fossil fuels for industrial activities has increased greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change. Climate change brings more intense and frequent rainfall, which increase the likelihood of flooding.
However, steps could be taken to alleviate the problems. One method is that the government should encourage farmers to implement sustainable farming practices, instead of expanding land for agriculture by giving them additional incomes. Another way could be for the government to establish a clear energy policy that limits greenhouse gas emissions and encourages companies to use renewable energy by providing financial incentives, such as tax credits. Finally, individuals should take all steps to reduce global warming by taking public transportation, reducing energy consumption in homes and offices, and recycling waste.
In conclusion, I believe that by doing the actions I mentioned above, we can decrease the risk of serious flooding and even extreme climate, which brings devastating consequences to our earth.
