As we see in today’s fast-paced world many individuals do not care about their health as a result large number of the world’s population consumes fast food and drinks that contain high levels of sugar which leads to many problems like higher cholesterol, blood sugar levels imbalance, heart problems and obesity or weight gain in teenagers. I strongly agree with the statement that sugar products should made more costly than any other products in the markets as more consumers should be engaged to follow a good and healthy diet by the governments of the respective countries.
Starting with multinational companies such as Coca-Cola tend to promote drinks that contain large amounts of sugar as it has created a monopoly in the sectors of beverage business in the world. They market their products as a refreshment drink to the consumer and a drink to stand out in the crowd. The main problem is not consuming it, it is about the dosage of the drink that you are consuming on a daily basis, which in return gives you temporary satisfaction but it can harm your body permanently. Taking sugar products everyday can lead to several problems like sugar level imbalance, higher cholesterol rate, increase in weight, and dwelling of energy levels in the body. Sugar is often known as slow poison in the body, which does not harm your body immediately but slowly damages your body. For example, a study from the University of Michigan US published that a person with a low consumption of sugar tends to be more fast and active in his daily routine compared to a person with a higher consumption of sugar respectively.
As sugar is sold at cheaper rates in the consumer market many Indian families have a tendency to have sugar before starting any new work, business, or occasion. Governments of respective countries should run the campaigns on advantages and disadvantages of consuming sugar on a daily basis and should also educate individuals about the dosage of sugar depending on the age of the person. Students in secondary and higher schools must be taught about healthy diets and superfoods which can boost their immunity power to fight against any disease. For example, the Indian government has started funding many startups that are promoting healthy products in the market to break the monopoly of unhealthy products that are consumed by a large consumer base.
To conclude, sugar should made expensive but to break the mental habit of individuals of consuming sugar government should run health campaigns, promote dietary products, and spread awareness about the excessive use of sugar
