In our technological era, technology permeates into every aspects of human lives, including virtual devices in historical places. This essay will explore benefits and drawbacks of this trend as well as justify why benefits are more superior.
One of the advantages of displaying historical places and equipments on screens may be enabling researches and young students to be more familiar with historical stuffs. Commonly, it is restricted to touch historical objects in traditional museums or parts of past building, but virtiual museums can offer to see them in three dimentions and to get information more on them by pressing a button on the screen. One another benefit could be that virtual museums can be revitalize past abjects which we cannot afford to see in traditional ones, like dinasours and their living environment. Additionally, historical objects may be damaged timely, but it is not true for virtual counterparts. For intance, one of virtual museums in London contains more than 10 million historical stuffs be collected during 20 years, no one of them has not disappeared throughout this period.
However, there are some downsides of this trend. It may cause a reduction in number of museums’ staff, reducing need for taking care of objects. For example, in traditional museums, there are employees who should observe and control not to touch stuffs as well as clean them. Another disadvantage of the trend may be spoiling our true sense of respecting our history, as it is humans’ nature to ignore things which they can acquire easily. For instance, today people merely visit museums due to the fact that they can watch things on screens which can be seen in museums.
In conclusion, I retriate my statement that virtual historical sites may offer more educational access, revitalization of historical objects and storing them untouched, so it has more benefits rather then drawbacks, inluding losing true sense of history’s value and a redundancy of some workplaces in hystorical care.
