Olympics have been organised at a large scale to encourage the spirit of various games in different destinations across the globe. Critics argue that these events bring positive gains for the host nation and on the other hand some consider these as an unnecessary expense.In my view, the olympic games add a great deal of value to the place where these are organised because such events trigger high revenu for the local businesses and a upgraded remake of the tranportation facilities.
First and foremost, the host cities always need an upgrade in its infrastructure. For example, new and advanced sport stadiums are required, and new roads are to be built for people to reach these stadiums. Secondly, an unimaginable number of tourists visit the host cities leading to scarcity of basic resources during the games season. All these factors result in a sudden and unwarranted inflation which could bring imbalance to the fiscal budget of the host country.
Nevertheless, the benefits of the Olympic Games for the host country far outweigh these costs. They get a huge boost to its tourism collection financially. People from all around the world stay and spend money in these cities bringing a surge in the profits of the local businesses. Consequently, more taxes are collected from these tourists to bring more foreign currency into the balance sheets of the local government. In my view such grand events benefit the host and bring a great level of monetary gains.
In light of the aforementioned, it is clear that inspite of being a costly afair at an initial stage, the Olympic games bring in major revenue to the host country as it ignites the commercial activities by inviting thousands of visitors.
