Nowadays, there is no doubt that social media is important in our daily lives. Many people favor using it to get a hold of their families and be aware of global events. However, others argue that there are certain drawbacks that can not be ignored. In this essay, I will dicuss both sides of the argument and explain my suppot for the former view.
On the one hand, one downside of this idea is that it may weeken the bonds among the population. This is because relying on phones or text messages to communicate can never be compared to real human connection. As a result, this will lead to a broken society where no one actually care about the other. Another disadvantage is that it can cause some health issues indirectly. For example, if people solely use mobile and computers everyday , they would be exposeed to magnatic radiations that can lead to headaches.
On the other hand, one major advantage of using social media is that we can have a conversationin even though we are in different countries. For instance, if students travelled abroad to continue their studies, they can use Facebook or Instagram to talk to their parents. Another benefit is that we would have more knowledge about what is going on in the world. If, in contrast, we are not updated about global threats such as COVID-19, we would not have been able to set plans to prevent it from spreading.
In conclusion, despite the risks of social media like a dismantled community and health problems, I personally believe it is far better to use them to have a chance at avoiding worldwide dangerous events and to communicate when in distant places.
