While constantly producing materials and goods would increase the global economy, I strongly disagree that every country’s goal should be production. As focusing only on production would make other aspects unattended, it would also place a heavy burden on nature.
First, when every country focuses on production, sectors such as health and education would be heavily overlooked. Production may be good for the economy, but it is merely a short term salve for the country. The overall health and education of a country plays a major role in the growth of a country. Moreover, when a country has competent healthcare and the majority of its population has quality education this will help construct a successful economy. Focusing on the economy first will not build a strong foundation for a country to succeed. Countries which aim to educate their population and produce good healthcare usually succeed more over time.
Secondly, nature’s resources are finite. To manufacture goods there must be something taken from nature, leather from cows, wool from sheep, feathers from poultry. While it is valid that nature can reproduce, the rate of its reproduction to being harvested is not balanced. In time, overconsumption will make these resources scarce or extinct. This scarcity will make basic needs expensive, thus making the majority of people unable to purchase these basic resources.
In conclusion, constantly increasing production may be profitable for its economy, it is only a short term gain for the country. Instead of increasing production, governments should be focusing on long term gains such as healthcare and quality education.
