Band 8+: Many people believe money is a very important factor for achieving happiness. Others, however believe that money has nothing to do with happiness. Discuss both views.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is often argued that money plays an essential role in achieving happiness, while others believe that happiness is unrelated to financial wealth. Although happiness can depend on various factors, I personally believe money significantly contributes to achieving happiness in life.

On the one hand, many people argue that money is not directly related to happiness because true joy stems from emotional connections and experiences, not material wealth. Individuals who have close relationships with friends and family, for example, often find fulfillment and emotional support regardless of their financial situation. Additionally, having excessive wealth does not always guarantee happiness, as it can sometimes lead to loneliness, anxiety, or increased stress from managing and preserving assets.

On the other hand, money undeniably provides essential resources and security that contribute significantly to happiness. People who are financially stable can afford quality healthcare, education, and leisure activities without stress or concern. For instance, when faced with health issues, individuals with sufficient finances can access timely treatment without worry, thus significantly reducing anxiety and stress. Moreover, financial stability allows people to pursue personal interests, explore new experiences, and lead a more fulfilling life.

In my view, although money alone cannot guarantee happiness, having sufficient financial resources plays a crucial role in achieving it. Financial security enables people to live life on their own terms, pursue passions, travel, learn new things, and support their loved ones—leading to greater overall happiness and satisfaction.

In conclusion, while emotional relationships and experiences are vital components of happiness, I firmly believe money remains a key factor. Financial security empowers individuals to fulfill their dreams, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable life.
