When people know that they must retire at a certain age, they may have the motivation to work hard when they can. This rule may also put some people at ease as they do not want to work when they are too old. Furthermore, being forced to retire at a certain age may encourage senior citizens to indulge in many new hobbies such as: swimming or embroidery. To add on, with the amount of free time those people will have on their hands, they can spend more quality time with their family. Studies have shown that people with a heavy work load report that they cannot afford to enjoy quality time with their loved ones as they are often thinking about their work.
However, with everyone retiring when they are 60. Many companies will have to find a quick way to replace their workers. This may seem easy enough but companies cannot just employ anyone qualified and expect them to do their job well. They must train these employees and keep a close eye on them for at least the first couple of months of employment.
In conclusion, though there are many benefits to people forcibly retiring at 60, such as being able to try new activities, there are some drawbacks such as companies not being able to fill their empty slots.
