Band 6+: Many people believe that international tourism brings economic benefits to a country, while others argue that it creates cultural problems.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is often argued that tourism generate revenue stream for a country, which will help in bringing prosperity and financial gains. While, the other oppose that opinion by prioritizing its effects on our village traditional norms related to language and social norms. This essay will discuss both points before presenting my opinion that international tourism brings economic benefits to a country.

Firstly, tourism industry always helps in boosting the economy of a country. Travelers spend a hefty amount on hotel bookings along with spending on food. All these factors eventually increase the local product purchasing. This consumer purchasing behavior significantly helps the local businesses. UNICEF report indicates that the international tourism market help Pakistan in overall 0.6% of its GDP. So, all these factors help in bringing the economic prosperity.

Secondly, opponents always criticize the foreign tourism by highlighting its effects on our culture. People often argue that it will vanish our culture related to language, clothing, and social norms. Where it may fade our local traditions as younger generations adopt foreign customs. For instance, the rural areas of Kashmir and Kelash are facing the issue related to cultural shifts, where the local customs like wearing long bangles and baggy clothes are vanishing. Therefore, global tourism has some effects on our traditions.

In my opinion, issues related to the cultural are not as big to criticize the tourism for it. These problems can be easily addressed by providing knowledge to our locals related to this. Government can make a policy related to foreigners’ interaction with local people. Overall, international travelers helps in supporting the domestic economy and enhancing living standards. a
