Education is one of the key factors that determines an individuals career path .For this reason, the effectiveness of self study has always been compared to group study. Personally, I am inclined to support the notion of independent learning.
Self learning should be encouraged as it is more efficient. Studying alone allows students to focus on the task ahead without any external factors intervening. External factors are more prevalent when multiple individuals are studying together. It becomes very easy for people to engage in off-topic conversations when gathered together. As a result of this, time dedicated to studying is disposed and grades sacrificed. This is very detrimental in the long run.
Moreover, no individual is the same. Genealogy and diversity in intellectual intelligence are contributing factors. Unfortunately, in everyday life this is something that cannot be measured or put on a scale. Therefore, when studying in groups, it is not uncommon for individuals to fall behind or take longer to process information. Many of these individuals find shame in expressing this and do not request additional support. Thus, compromising grades and defeating the purpose of studying together.
In contrast, a plethora of individuals in favor of group study disagree. It is disputed that the environment of study combines individuals from a vast array of areas, thus, the knowledge shared in these circumstances is unobtainable elsewhere. This provides an ideal foundation for any student. Furthermore, others argue that more people results in more questions being asked. This is further oppurtunity to enhance knowledge and improve understanding.
To conclude, each individual is entitled to make his own choices. However, in my opinion the best choice in terms of education will always be self study as the benefits of it outweigh the disadvantages. If one encounters difficulty or issues in studying they can always reach out for further assistance.
