The discussion about the opportunities that big cities provide, and the beneficial impacts in terms of living in the countryside, has been increasing for a long time now. Both perspectives will be discussed in this essay.
As far as the big cities are concerned, I believe that conception that they offer numerous chances is true. Firstly, the quality of education in the big cities is better than that in the rural areas. Owing to the fact that education is thought to be one of the most important things in people’ life, many parents are attempting to provide their children the best study environment. For instance, while in the most villages there is only one school, which is mainly primary school, in the big cities the number of schools is numerous. Besides, not only does the number of urban schools exceed rural, but there are also different high schools, such as professional high school of economics or architecture. This variety provides both parents and children different options. Another advantage, in terms of opportunities, is that in big cities people tend to find job easily compared to those, living in a village. As the companies are expanding recently, the number of vacant places in different positions is increasing significantly. Therefore, if someone is currently unemployed, he or she can apply for more than one job, while in the rural areas the variety of jobs is quite limited.
However, there is no doubt that living in the countryside has benefits. Although the living standard is lower in the villages, health conditions they provide, are crucial. The growing number of people who prefer to live in big cities results in building more houses, purchasing more cars, and consequently, the pollution is increasing dramatically. Moreover, the busy daily routine in the city leads to increased level of stress, and people tend to get nervous easily. In comparison, there are a lot of trees and green fields in the countryside. Therefore, the air is fresh, and according to a research, people who breathe more fresh air are likely to live longer. Another reason why living in a rural area benefits individuals is that there is not so much stress. To clarify, people are not running late as often as in the city. As a result, they feel peaceful and feel happier.
To conclude, big cities provide more opportunities in terms of education and employment due to the higher standard of living and variety of options they offer in terms of schools and jobs; however, living in the rural areas has its advantages too, as impacts on people’s health are better.
