People hold differing views regarding whether children learn more from watching documentaries and educational videos or from reading books. Some people believe that visual materials are more effective, while others argue that reading remains the more valuable activity. This essay will discuss both views before explaining why I believe that watching documentaries and educational videos is more beneficial for children.
On the one hand, there are valid arguments for why reading books remains the more valuable activity. The main argument is that reading books develops young generations’ vocabulary and imagination. For instance, when children read stories, they learn useful new words and enhance their brains by remembering academic vocabulary. This indicates that reading helps them improve their language skills.
On the other hand, I side with those who believe that visual materials are more effective. The primary reason is that watching educational videos and documentaries can increase children’s interest in learning. A clear example of this is that learning various languages might be easier through watching interesting videos. Therefore, visual materials can make children more familiar with digital devices.
In conclusion, although there are strong arguments on both sides, I am of the opinion that visual materials are more convincing because watching educational videos prepares children to use digital devices effectively, and this approach can increase their interest in education.
