In recent decades, a number of people are preferring to live in urban areas rather than in rural areas. In my opinion, this trend is mainly caused by economic factors and it creates some challenges in modern society.
There are several reasons why people want to move from the countryside to urban areas. Firstly and mainly, cities prevent better jobs and higher salaries. While rural areas often rely on agriculture, cities have offices and businesses where people can find stable employment and career growth in the future. In addition, big cities provide developed infrastructure, including advanced healthcare hospitals, higher education organisations and a huge variety of entertainment. For the most people moving to a city gives a chance for a better and more modern lifestyle.
However, this massive movement of population brings several problems. The most worrying issue is overcrowding, which puts heavy strain on city infrastructure. Housing prices rises up, leading to a shortage of affordable homes. Furthermore, overcrowding also causes traffic on the roads and higher levels of air pollution, which negatively affects on people health. Finally, as cities grow, the competition for jobs and public services increases, sometimes even leads to higher unemployment and social problems.
In conclusion, people move to urban areas primarily in search of better employment and life. Nevertheless, this trend creates major problems such as housing shortage, traffics and environmental pollution.
