With owning a personal car becoming common, the number of people using it has increased more than it used to be. While this trend can cause some problems, there are some effective ways to discourage people from using personal cars.
One of the main concerns of this trend is air pollution. Most people are using fuel as an energy source to run a vehicle. Light cars, for example, emit substantial quantities of noxious emissions, damaging the environment. This later causes some bigger problems such as global change and air pollution. Another primary problem that is caused by this trend is traffic congestion. That is, when more people use personal cars, long-term congestion becomes more common, causing more car crashes. This leads people to become angry, as a result of delay. Therefore, government is trying to address this problem.
Despite these problems caused by this trend, there are some ways to discourage people from using personal cars. One of the main solutions is improving the public transport. In most countries, public transport is uncomfortable and usually late. Thus, many people opt for using personal cars. If governments improve the quality of public transport and make enhance service frequency, most people may prefer using it instead of personal cars. Another solution is increasing the cost of parking areas. People may avoid using personal cars, if the cost of parking space is higher and may opt for using public transport or bikes. For example, in Japan people usually use public transport as it is more convenient and people pay little for it.
In conclusion, although this trend can cause some serious problems such as air pollution and traffic congestion, government can tackle this by improving the quality of public transport and increasing the cost of parking areas.
