In today’s world, many students like to study practical subjects. Subjects like business, engineering, and computer science are very popular now. Because of this, some people believe that universities will stop teaching theoretical subjects like history, philosophy, and literature. I do not agree with this idea.
First of all, theoretical subjects are still important. For example, history teaches us about what happened in the past. It helps us to understand how our world has changed. Philosophy makes people think more clearly and deeply about life. These subjects may not give direct jobs, but they make people smart and open-minded.
Second, not everyone wants to do only job-related studies. Some students are interested in ideas, culture, and knowledge. Universities should offer many kinds of subjects so that all students can choose what they like. If universities only focus on practical subjects, they will become more like training centers, not real places of learning. Also, theoretical knowledge is often the base of practical skills. For example, science needs theory before doing experiments. Engineers must understand physics, which is also a theoretical subject. So, theory and practice go hand in hand.
On the other hand, some people believe to study only practical courses and they think that old theoretical subjects should be no longer be taught.This is because they believe that there are more job opportunities after studying these one.
In conclusion, while practical subjects are becoming more popular with more job opportunities, universities should not stop teaching theoretical ones. Both kinds of subjects are important for a good education. Students should have the chance to learn both and choose what fits them best.
