In the contemporary era, a vast proportion of children use technological innovations in their daily lives; thus, their reading and writing abilities may decline. While many individuals consider this approach highly beneficial, as technological skills might enhance children’s future employment prospects and help them access an unlimited amount of information, others argue that it is a negative development, as reading and writing skills are essential for acquiring profound knowledge effectively and developing critical thinking abilities. From my perspective, technological advancements are valuable, as they might contribute significantly to intellectual development; however, implementing certain restrictions can help maintain a healthy balance.
On the one hand, it is true that technological devices can bring several advantages to people’s lives. Most importantly, acquiring technological skills can significantly improve individuals’ future career prospects. For example, using programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel is a fundamental skill required by many companies. Furthermore, these innovations enable young people to access a wide range of valuable information that might help them broaden their horizons. Consequently, children who are familiar with technology are more likely to become self-assured and open-minded.
On the other hand, it is argued that reading and writing abilities can play a pivotal role in shaping individuals’ careers. Notably, these skills are crucial for comprehending written content. In particular, fast reading is a good example, as it helps young people gain a deeper understanding in a short period of time. Furthermore, such abilities may enable individuals to develop essential skills such as critical thinking, which is crucial for academic performance. Children who possess this capability are more likely to be successful than their peers. Hence, this viewpoint can enhance their chances of gaining admission to better universities.
Overall, reading and writing skills are essential for career development and academic success, as they enhance cognitive abilities and open up better educational opportunities.
