It is argued by many people that public transport should be tottally free of charge for all citizens. However, there are individuals who believe that people should pay a fee. This essay will examine both sides and give my personal opinon on this matter.
Numerous people hold an opinion that citizens should not pay for using public transport. This is because population are already taxpayers who pay nearly for everything. Additionally, if public transport such as bus and subways were free, their usage would rise. Moreover, a significant number of people who live far away from their home would always commute by bus, train, and tram. Besides that, if there were no payments for public transportation systems and using them were popular amongst regular people the environmental issues would decrease. For example, if a bus starts to travel free of charge, more people will use the bus and the traffic on the road will decrease.
On the other hand, a large number of population do not think that is a good decision. This is because public transportation is not always owned by government or local authorities. Actually, many public transport systems work independently. For this reason, the quality of them change between cities. Furthermore, this is a business too. Therefore, the numerous people that work in this sphere such as drivers, operators, managers and IT specialists deserve fair and good salaries. For example, if there were no payments in public transportation systems, people would begin to take it as for granted.
In conclusion, there are both positive and negative effects of installing free of charge public transport. Government can regulate cost of using them. Free of charge transport means that a large number of citizens who will use them in everyday life. Importantly, by doing that they will help protect air from transport pollution. However, this is detrimental to individuals who create this convenient system, because authorities cannot fully reach a hundred percent financially providence.
