It is widely recognized that numerous students are mostly unable to concentrate on the lessons and the teachers at school these days. From my academic perspective, I believe the rationale behind this phenomenon lies in the teaching methods and students’ personal reasons. This essay will first discuss the aforementioned reasons, before suggesting some viable solutions to overcome this issue.
The way lessons are given, on the one hand, can affect students’ attention span, by demotivating students from the lessons which are unstructured and disengaging. This manifests starkly in some countries, where the lecture-based method is adopted, such as in Vietnam. The teachers keep lecturing while the students keep writing down all of the content without having a chance to raise their ideas, creating a boring lesson that discourages students from taking in new knowledge. On the other hand, the lack of energy due to students’ personal reasons, also distracts students from their studies at school. During the school year, some students have to get a part-time job to pay for tuition fees. Therefore, they do not have much time left to regain energy for a new session at school. This fact leads to students’ tiredness while they are in class, thereby making it difficult for them to focus on the lessons.
To tackle this problem, I believe both teachers and students should make efforts to overcome the issue on their own sides. On the teachers’ side, giving students more opportunities to raise their opinions and interact with the teachers is an appropriate way to encourage students to pay more attention to the lessons. By not only talking about the lessons on their own, teachers will save more space for students to get involved in the lessons as well. Moreover, students on their side should allocate enough time to rest before taking a class at school. If they need financial support, getting a tuition fee loan from national banks is quite helpful. Furthermore, they should also balance studying and other activities, to maintain enough energy during the class.
In conclusion, what seems to be the core of student’s lack of attention are the teaching methods from teachers and the lack of energy of students. To solve this problem, teachers should give more interactive lessons, while students ought to have enough rest before joining a class at school.
