Causes and Solutions for Students Working While Studying

Many students find it difficult to work part-time while studying. In this essay, I will highlight major causes of the problems faced by students enrolled in colleges or universities. Firstly, I will explore common issues related to time management. Secondly, I will provide possible solutions using scheduling techniques and the 30/5 rule of learning.

To begin with, many individuals work while they are enrolled in a course at a college. Most of them either come from economically weaker sections or are immigrants who try to fund their education through temporary jobs. Due to their financial situation, these students are already stressed. Furthermore, individuals who struggle with time management feel more pressured, leading to poor performance in their assignments and tests.

A probable solution to this issue is to schedule tasks and achieve them step-by-step. Prioritizing tasks that are important but not urgent helps one focus on time-critical tasks. For instance, if a student is assigned to complete a thesis for their postgraduate studies, they can set a timeline and work on it daily rather than waiting until the last minute. Similarly, using the 30/5 rule, where one studies for 30 minutes and then takes a 5-minute break, can be beneficial, especially for students who lack concentration.

In conclusion, it is challenging to focus on learning while working, but it can be managed using a few tried and tested methods. In my opinion, the best outcomes can be achieved by journaling and reviewing one’s progress regularly. Implementing effective time management strategies and the 30/5 rule can significantly alleviate the pressure on students balancing work and studies.
