Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

While some teenagers tend to use social media as a means of communication and for educational purposes, it can expose them to risks such as cyberbullying and addiction in today’s digital world.

On the one hand, there can be many benefits of using social platforms among teenage people in this day and age. The obvious one is maintaining healthy and strong relationships with their peers or friends residing in remote areas. As social media is accessible and convenient, it makes them easier to keep in touch with each other on platforms like Instagram or Facebook. Additionally, social media helps adolescents to improve their academic and personal development by providing such learning resources, materials and even motivations. More specifically, there are many high-skilled and ingenious teachers who can instruct complex subjects in a straightforward way, making it more engaging and appealing on social platforms like YouTube or TikTok. For instance, a high school student who struggles with mathematics might follow educational TikTok creators who simplify algebra or geometry using animations and real-life examples. This informal learning environment makes it easier for them to understand complicated ideas, especially when compared to traditional textbooks. As a result, accessible knowledge and edutainment help boost both academic confidence and interest in the subject.

Despite its advantages , however , social media also bring several serious drawbacks . First and foremost, addiction and reduced productivity among young people became increasingly common in the modern world. Since they are excessively engaged with social networks, particularly through watching short videos or posting their positive experiences . In turn, Such individualls may struggle to manage their time and daily tasks effectively. The overuse often leads to severe issues, namely procrastination, poor academic performance or sleep disruption. Consequently, they are highly likely to become more sluggish and careless in everyday lives. Another point worth mentioning, the utilisation of social media can trigger cyberbullying and mental health problems among young people. This is because teenagers are emotionally vulnerable and often seek social validation online. When they are targeted by hateful comments, negative comparisons, or exclusion on social media, it deeply affects their self-worth and emotional stability.

To sum up, while social media offers some valuable advantages such as providing access to educational content and enabling communication , it also can pose really serious issues among adolescents likely mental strains and online harrasment.
