A quite big number of people have a sedentary lifestyle during working hours. This frequently leads to a wide variety of health disorders, such as obesity, diabetes mellitus, heart diseases, etc. This essay will explore the reasons for this and mention some possible solutions.

There are several reasons that prevent people from doing exercise while the are working. One of them is that workers can be overload with job tasks. This often results in long working hours. Therefore, staff members do not have enough time for this in order to perform their job. For instance, warehouse workers in Amazon sometimes have to work more than 50 hours per week instead of 40 ones. Another clear reason is that people could not be aware about the usefulness of physical exercise and feel embarrassed about doing exercise in front of their colleagues. According to a recent survey that was performed in Australia more than a half of employees of companies are not knowledgeable about the threat of the sedentary lifestyle. Hence, the lack of time and awareness are the two main reasons that are responsible for avoiding performing exercise during work day by people.

Some possible measures can be undertaken to address the problem. The first idea is the control of working hours by employers. If managers distribute workload more evenly among staff members, this will lead to more free times for employers that they can use for short exercising breaks. For example, people who have fewer working hours generally have better health indicators. Another possible solution is that companies should raise employer’s awareness about a healthy lifestyle. If people have enough knowledge about the benefits of the regular exercise, they will start doing them on a regular basis. One good example of this is Abbott company that organizes webinars about a healthy lifestyle for their staff members. The more information people have, the more time they will spend for performing exercise.

In conclusion, there a lot of factors that can prevent people from doing exercise regularly, but several steps could be taken to mitigate this issue.
