As international pop and movie stars are spreading all over the world, adolescents now have a plethora knowledge about them rather than historical people in their countries. The advancement of technology and lack of literacy are the root cause of this phenomenon. I firmly believe Government should add more activity about history in school curriculum and parents have to limit the use of gadget.
In this digital-savvy era, it’s not surprise that people tend to spend their time on their gadget. They can get all the information from their countries to the edge of the world. Therefore, their internet comsumption can enrich their knowledge, especially about international pop and movie stars. For instance, as a develop country with huge population, Indonesia become the international entertainment market to gain their profit. One of the most popular international groups in Indonesia is Korean pop star known as BTS. Survey from one of the Indonesia higher education has shown that youngsters are more familiar with BTS compared to the Indonesian presidents. Besides, history has bad image among students because of their perspective about history itself. They believe that history is just bunch of stories that revealing on societies, and thus they tend to avoid everything related to history. This issue indicates the lack of literacy about history.
To prevent the widespread of these issues, Government must re-arrange school curriluming by adding some activities involving data about famous people in the history of their nationality. Eventhough International stars influence children and adolescents, schools able to educate their students to gain their nationality. Furthermore, parents should give time limit to their children from accessing gadget in order to lessen detrimental effects of internet.
To sump up, the ease of gain knowledge through gadget and lack of literacy may lead into people unknown about their nationality. Therefore, government and parents have to regulate new activities in school and restrict the use of gadget respectively.
