Cell phones and the World Wide Web could have many advantages for old people. Nevertheless, older people do not use gadgets often. I believe that there are many benefits for old people to use technology, such as being able to communicate with those who live far away and to look for any information that they are interested in. We also can motivate them to use gadgets by showing them simple ways of using devices and explaining the benefits that they can provide.
In my opinion there are some advantages of using technology for older people, since it can facilitate their life in many ways. The first thing is that they can easily be able to interact with their friends or relatives who live in other cities or countries. To illustrate, old people who lost touch with their old friends after moving to other places, can find them on social media and even make a video call and enjoy the conversation. Secondly, most people of old ages look for information from newspapers and magazines, which takes time and sometimes it can be inefficient, since there is not much information in them. Thus, they can use the internet to look for a piece of information that they need quickly on the internet.
In terms of encouraging older people to use technological devices, young people can teach them simple ways of using the Internet, as for older adults using technology seems as something challenging, since they are not used to it. One way of teaching them the usage of devices is to show it once and explain the advantages. After being ensured the facilitations the devices provide older people will be inspired to use them often. For example, if older people once make a video call to their old friends and see how easy it is to get in touch, they may continue doing it the next time. It means that explaining the advantages and showing the way of using technology may encourage them to use it often.
In conclusion, cellular phones and digital devices could have many benefits for people of older age. However, they do not tend to use them very regularly. I consider that modern digital devices have advantages for older adults such as getting in touch with those who live far away and searching the information that they need.
