One of the most conspicuous trends of today’s world is that the widespread use of internet and mobiles phones facilities stay in contact with others. From my perspective, this phenomenon is a negative development, as it has direct negative consequences on children either in health problems or isolation, and the following paragraphs will further elaborate on this viewpoint.
To begin with, the first justification why I am convinced it is not a desirable trend is that excessive screen time on internet platforms or mobile phones may lead generations to being in isolation environments. To elaborate, allowing individuals to play video games and chat with non-human people such as AI-powered tools, especially Chat GPT, makes them less socialized with others. As a result, they grew up with poor communication skills because they do not interact effectively with people in real life, leading to psychological issues in the future. Therefore, parental supervision plays an active role in shaping children’s attitudes to be more interactive with people by enforcing parental laws on them such as limiting their time on internet. In addition, the role of schools helps children to avoid these mistakes by raising their knowledge about the potential risks of using internet.
Moreover, another compelling factor is that using internet and social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok may make people weaker in a teamwork with others. To illustrate, people spend significant time on social media to watch reels or post their notification, photos, or videos are less likely to deal with teamwork due to poor commutation skills. This is because their communication skills may not be developed well to communicate easily and effectively with people, resulting in failure in various aspects of life. Consequently, face-to-face communication is crucial for young generation to develop their interpersonal skills such as discussion with people. At this time, they cannot distinguish acceptable behaviors which will benefit them in the future, especially in job interviews.
To conclude, I believe that using internet and phones is a negative development, as it makes children alone in restricted areas and weaker their communication skills which are very essential in life.
