Many university offer distance learning programs. These programs not only have advantages but also disadvantages. Many learners are not necessarily suited to the distance learning model. I agree with this assumption that not all learning can follow the learning model because it has requitements.
Many students need the ability in self-regulation in doing online learning. Online learning emphasizes students’ independence in learning. While in offline learning, students can appropriately carry out the learning process even though they lack self-regulation learning skills. This model is more suitable for general use in the learning process. Students who experience boredom and difficulties can quickly solve problems because they get support from the campus environment. The ability to understand and run the technology that supports the online learning process will help students in learning. Students with limited knowledge and economy to experience the technology will have difficulties. Meanwhile, conventional learning does not have much impact on this. Students have more options because they get facilities by the university in applying technology in the learning process and academic demands that do not focus on mastering technology.
In conclusion, not everyone who studies in higher education will be suitable for online learning programs. It requires skills, especially in self-regulation and the use of technology. Students who lack or do not have these abilities are better off choosing a regular program.
