Some think that in order to overcome to traffic congestion government should implement all time public transportation service. While this measure this could encourage people to use public transportation instead of private cars, I believe that it would not be sufficient to solve traffic congestion completely.
One considerable reason for solving traffic congestion through providing free public transport is that being the most appropriate option for everyone. Nowadays, buses and subways are becoming too convenient which includes air-conditioning system, comfortable seats and wide-interior for increasing the number of passengers that buses can accommodate, that could create ease especially for students and people who spend most of their time on roads. As a result, all time public transports can attract citizens and manipulate them to use buses instead of driving private vehicles, which can be significant threat for traffic jams.
However, there are also several reasons why this trend alone may not solve traffic congestion. From my point of view, there are several barriers to solve the traffic congestion completely such as narrow streets, poor road infrastructure and better convenience which private vehicles provide. Furthermore, free transports can create high threat for development of country through high costs. Additionally, narrow streets and poor road conditions might be influence to the traffics at somehow and also most of the people still prefer privacy and individual conveniences. So this is why, cars can not replaced with free public transports. Consequently, constant traffic congestion can not tackle with solely 24/7 public services.
In conclusion, although providing free and 24/7 public transportation could encourage people to use public transport instead of private vehicles and therefore reduce traffic congestion, I believe that this measure alone would not be sufficient. Other factors, such as poor road infrastructure and people’s preference for private cars, should also be addressed to tackle this problem effectively.
