In the contemporary era, Home schooling is quite a common phenomenon. Most parents prefer this practice due to various reasons such as customized learning, religious beliefs, concerns about school environment, and financial benefits. However, in my opinion, it is not the best approach for cognitive and physical development of children.
To begin with the reasons of its popularity, Foremost, is the rising educational costs nowadays, which have prompted people to opt for the more affordable alternative of home education. For instance, the USA is among the highest countries of home school attendees due to its expensive education system.
Secondly, Parents find it an easier and convenient for enhancing learning as it leads to personalized education, flexible in scheduling and tailored learning. Moreover, some parents are extremely protective of their children to shield them from issues like bullying, peer pressure , etc in educational places , they provide schooling to them at homes. Thirdly, It is also a matter of religious beliefs, as many people believe that traditional school education negatively effects their values and principles. Statistics shows that around one-third of parents choose home-schooling due to faith-based reasons.
Regardless of all the aforementioned causes, I personally believe home schooling can have long- term adverse affects on our personal growth. It can lead to lack of confidence, limited social interactions and exposure. School is not only a place for education but also a vital environment for social development. People from diverse backgrounds and culture gather at one place which cultivates teamwork and better understanding of different perspectives.
To conclude, remote learning can provide some short-term benefits like convenience and financial gains, but in the long run, it poses disadvantages for the society.
