In this cutting-edge era, where each and everything is changing with the passage of time, a change can also be seen in the eating habits as well. Rather than home-cooked food, individuals are getting more inclined towards the packed meals. In my opinion, this practise is leading to more adverse consequences than its positive outcomes, which I will explain in the following paragraphs with relevant reasons and examples.
Beginning with the first detrimental effect of it is that it makes people prone to many deadly diseases. Unlike home-made meals, the processed food is not healthy and full of nutrients. When people consume it, they do not get sufficient nutrients, which they require to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. They fall ill and easily get infected by diseases, such as obesity and severe weaknesses. For instance, in cities like Ludhiana where majority of the industrial workers eat ready-made chips in their lunch breaks often visit more frequently to doctors than people who always rely on food cooked at home.
Moving to the another concerning impact, it also affects individuals’ professional career. Even though it provides professionals some extra time, which they would have otherwise spent on preparing their meals, it always makes individuals lazy, making their lives boring by limiting their skills of cooking. Since these people are living a sedentary life, they often find it difficult at their workplaces to work fast and meeting the company standards. In the recent news published by Hindustan Times, employees of Canadian Tire got terminated because they were unable to hit the required performances at their work due to laziness caused by fast food.
In conclusion, I believe the shift of having packaged meals instead of cooking food at home leads to destructive development, making individuals vulnerable to various illnesses and negatively impacting their professional career.
