In recent times, it is more common for people to migrate to large cities. This trend is driven by the desire to seek better opportunities and improved living conditions. There are both benefits and drawbacks to this phenomenon. In this essay, I will examine both perspectives and provide a conclusion.
Regarding its benefits, one of the main advantages of living in big cities is that people can easily access many facilities and services, which are rare in the countryside. Specifically, a developed city provides residents with a range of entertainment and modern infrastructure. For example, people living in a big city can easily go to the hospital or seek medical treatment within an hour, which can take many hours if you live in rural areas. Another major benefit is increased opportunities in career options. To explain this, there are many big companies and corporations in developed countries. As a result, employees have more chances to secure a higher-paying job, which makes it easier to cover their living expenses and take care of their families.
Turning to the other side of the argument, one of the biggest disadvantages is the high cost of living. This is because the price of goods and products in large cities is higher compared to those in smaller ones. For instance, the cost of affording a house in urban areas is many times higher than in rural areas. Another drawback is a stressful lifestyle, as people must work day and night while trying to build relationships with other people. Consequently, people can be stressed, which can negatively affect their mental well-being.
All things considered, moving to developed cities can have both advantages and disadvantages. While it makes people’s lives more convenient and opens more doors in career paths, there is a risk of mental health issues and a higher cost of living. In my opinion, migrating to big cities can be beneficial if people are supported with proper preparation and knowledge.
