The increase of new car ownership in developed countries are becoming popular, it creates a question of how this trend appeared. Based on my personal opinion, the biggest issue would be traffic uptrend, and the best solution are public transportation infrastructure development.
The increasing number of cars One of the major setbacks but also a breakthrough of developing countries are their massive economical growth, money plundering their citizens in order to cycle that money. The government tends to push their citizens to purchase certain products that have a value for future development, one of them is cars but this causes massive traffic congestion, especially in the big city such as Jakarta. Based on an article I’ve read, Jakarta loses billions of dollars a year on productivity just because of its traffic.
To address this problem, one of the major solutions to the ever increasing privately owned vehicle that has infected most developing countries’ cities are public transportation. This kind of commuting could deescalate the needs of cars, for instance public transportation usually would carry hundreds or even thousands of people just in a single trip, moreover like trains, it could reach many strategic points in the city with high speed and high capacity therefore increasing productivity. The government should focus on this type of development.
In conclusion, the government cannot ban the usage of cars because it has its own advantages, but they could lessen the problems it created. To address this they could push on a massive development to create more public transportation that would challenge the existence of cars and to create a more productive citizen.
