There is a view that in some large cities the population has exceeded 20 million inhabitants. While some people think that living in such big cities is comfortable and convenient, I believe that the drawbacks are greater because they can lead to overcrowding, air pollution, and mental health problems.
Some people think that dwellers who are living in mega-cities are more satisfied due to the easy access to everything. The main advantage is that in large places, everything is located in one place and you do not need to search for things too long because everything is nearby. Moreover, this is especially beneficial for people with illnesses because they can go to the hospital quickly whenever they need, whereas people living in rural areas may not be able to manage this. For example, a person with cardiiovascular disease can go to the hospital immediately when they do not feel well.
However, for people who have breathing ailments like asthma, living in mega-cities among millions of people can be difficult. Thanks to the numerous toxic gases and emissions coming from cars and factories, which might worsen their illnesses.
Moreover, the density is also a main problem. When there is an excessive amount of people in one place, it can be stressful to get to work due to traffic congestion every morning. Workers’ journeys become irritating, particularly for parents who should pick their children up at schools and kindergartens before work. As a result, mood swings , and they start to feel more irritated by everything and everyone. This can affect their productivity and relationships in their workplaces.
In conclusion, even though some people believe that benefits of living in mega-cities outweigh the disadvantages, I think the opposite because the drawbacks such as density, mood changes and toxic gases, which are extremely harmful especially for people with breathing issues is negative.
