There is a considerable debate about whether students should obtain work experience while studying, or concentrate exclusively on academic education. Although classroom learning provides essential theoretical knowledge, practical work experience enables students to develop professional skills and understand real-work demands. In my opinion, combining work experience with academic study is highly beneficial, as it improves students’ career prospects and build their confidence.
On the one hand, some people often argue that students should prioritize classroom learning over work experience. It is because academic education offers the essential theoretical knowledge and subject-specific skills, necessary to understand complex concepts in their chosen field. Moreover, focusing on their academic performance allows students prepare effectively for examinations and achieves better academic results, which are often essential for pursuing higher education and securing professional positions. For example, medial students must acquire a throughout understanding of human anatomy and symptoms of the deseases before safely treat patients. Therefore, dedicating sufficient time for academic learning leads to a solid foundation for their future careers.
On the other hand, gaining work experience while studying offers significant long-term benefits. Working in a professional setup enables students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-life world, and develop practical skill such as, communication, leadership, team-work, and problem solving. Furthermore, early exposure to the workplace help them to build confidence and understand employers’ expectations, making them more competitive in the job market. For instance, university students who complete internship in a marketing agency, can learn how to manage stakeholders and can develop advertising campaigns, giving them a particular advantage over non-enperienced graduates. Consequently, combining employment with education can better prepare for career challenges of professional life.
In conclusion, although academic knowledge is essential for developing theoretical knowledges and achieving better results, I strongly believe that, students should achieve work experience during their studies, as this helps them to develop practical mastery, build confidence and better employment prospects.
