In many advanced countries, a huge amount of funds is invested in setting breakthrough medical equipment and using up-to-date treatment methods rather than spending them to educate people about how to live healthily. It is questionable that such money is needed for expensive healthcare devices. I couldn’t agree more with this statement because of certain reasons which will be depicted in this essay.
Nowadays, new emergent diseases are threatening the human beings at an alarming rate. Although preventing is better than cure, if it happens, no other procedures than diagnosing and curing in time can guarantee to sustain your life. Educating people to prevent the disease and avoid ways to be infected works but it has limitations, such as in facing highly infectious diseases that doctors have no prior knowledge related to that disease. For instance, the outbreak of pandemics like COVID-19 needs much money for developing vaccines and remedies and special apparatus to control virus infecting people.
Moreover, no person doesn’t want to have the best medical care and treatments to be recovered. They pay more attention to getting the latest medical care such as CT scans or MRIs and the most modernized treatments like mRNA cancer treatments and 3D organ bioprinting than having health education. In addition to this, doctors of today are too busy as the number of patients increases, doctors may force patients to take a medical checkup, so they have less time to talk with patients during consultation which leads to a lower health education levels. That’s why, people become more reliant on costly medical devices and treatments.
To conclude, providing resources to the community so as to reduce health problems in developed countries is crucial. Education is not the main way to reduce charges, and the most powerful factor to health balance.
