Museums are substantially pivotal components to keep the cultural and traditional values of a nation alive. Nonetheless, there is an ongoing debate about whether museums are consistently in need since the fast pace of technological breakthroughs offers widespread information sources that can somehow overshadow the merits of museums. From my perspective, while the practical significance of technological advancement is irrefutable, cultural institutions like museums play a paramount role.
On the one hand, museums pave the way for everyone to dive into their national eminence. Paying a hands-on visit to these cultural places furthers their knowledge about the origins of their homeland and the people who have contributed to giving them a peaceful life today with complete and authentic information. Plus, when pilgrimaging there, various people can exchange the deep penetration they have had mutually and thanks to that, each person will enhance the sense of patriotism and community. Hence, abandoning museums appears to be similar to depriving the younger generation of their history and culture or snatching the identity of a nation.
Another worth mentioning side to prove that museums are irreplaceable is the exact phase in which the cutting-edge foundation came into public. According to plentiful research sources, IT, standing for information technology, was born in the 1980s and started to develop and dominate from then; however, the history progress of a nation began from the very first appearance of prehistoric humans, millennia ago, so we must have wondered where IT was at that time. As a result, not only does technology itself not assist in all-embracing historical, traditional, and cultural values for human, especially the youth, but contains deviations in data leading to the lack of sense of their root and comprehensive understanding of their peoples.
In conclusion, many people claim that technological advances can someday unexpectedly substitute for the role of museums, resulting from the availability and abundance of information on the net. I think, conversely, even though the convenience technology-driven devices bring to human life is definitely undeniable, museums viewed as symbols of a country’s culture can never be ruined by any thoughts or actions.
