There is no doubt that a great deal of advertising can negatively affect youngsters and should be supervised. I firmly support this notion because ads can lead to health and financial issues for parents and their offspring.
To begin with, food advertising detrimentally impacts the youth’s health via misleading information. In other words, when some commercials publicize unhealthy snacks and feature children’s favorite cartoons with special effects to make them more appealing and attractive, consequently, they will crave these snacks and consume them excessively. For example, despite the fact that Nutella is advertised as a nutritious treat, it is loaded with palm oil and refined sugar. Thus, measures should be taken by the authorities to censor false information and obligate such manufacturers to discontinue their harmful products.
Furthermore, the ultimate aim of any product’s commercial is to make it highly profitable; subsequently, this can impose a strain on family finances. To explain, if some brands are endorsed by famous figures, they are more likely to be purchased by teenagers in order to imitate their idols. For instance, in Egypt, the number of adolescents who buy items and skins in online video games has increased because most of the games’ commercials are advertised by glamorous figures, particularly PUBG and League of Legends. As a result, not only do these advertisements cause economic distress among families, but they also could create arguments and weaken family relationships.
In conclusion, a large amount of advertisements is predominantly directed toward children in immoral and inappropriate methods. Therefore, this can endanger their well-being and may strain their caretakers’ budgets; in turn, widening the gap between caregivers and their dependents.
