‘Work from home’ method has been increasingly used by businesses in current days. This passage includes how this practice may affect employees and businesses in positive ways, as well as its negative effects.
There are two most obvious advantages regarding the matter, with the first benefit being the flexibility of work. Employees are allowed to arrange their schedule based on their individual preference, enabling them to do other activities, for instance, house chores, in between time gaps. As a result, workers are able to contain work-life balance without affecting the productivity of business. Secondly, it preserves both time and money, allowing business to operate more efficiently. As the need for travelling is reduced, employees can save in-between transport costs to office. Furthermore , carbon footprint will be significantly reduced and business can run as ‘ethical’ in marketing.
However, every case has its own drawbacks binded with benefits. ‘Work from home’ method has two main negative effects that can be pointed out from two different perspectives. Firstly, the lack of supervision by mentors can lead to employees slacking off during work hours, lowering productivity of the business. Especially as there are more distractions such as kids at home, they are more likely to lose focus on work and become highly demotivated in the long terms. Secondly, as far as health is concerned, working 9 to 5 a day with no occasional breaks or physical movements is highly concerning. Consequently, people can likely become lazy, depressed and can be exposed to many diseases.
In conclusion, using ‘work from home’ practice has its own advantages by being both cost and time-saving and gives people a change to manage their time efficiently but also has its disadvantages in health and economic aspects.
