In the present age, whether animal related studies conduct to invent novel drugs and study about the safety profile of other products have sparked much debate. Some people assert that experiments which conduct using animals should be stopped considering by animal cruelty, whereas many other argue that animal trials should be continued because it offers more benefits to human. In my opinion, animal experiments should be continued.
On the one hand, people raise several reasons why it could be argued that animal experiments should be banned. Firstly, most of the modern society people believe that the animal also should have similar rights as humans, and there are several lows and orders imposed to protect them. However, these lows and orders are made in such a way that excluding animals, who participates to the experiments. Secondly, while animals participate to these experiments, they might have to feel extreme pain, and most often end up with cruel death. For example, most of the cancer study mouse use as the model organism, and researchers implant cancer cell lines in that mouse by force; as a result, after few weeks these mouse face to cruel death. Lastly, some other fields such as cosmetics and security firms are involved animals for several purpose, including investigate safety profile of novel cosmetics products.
On the other hand, nowadays, along with the significant growth rate of human population, there are so many undiagnosed diseases spread. Therefore, there should be a way to find therapeutic approaches for these diseases; however, to invent the novel drugs scientists might need to take almost the same cellular environment as human. That is the main reason why researchers use animal models for experiments. For example, most of the novel drugs invent for cancer types, including liver cancers, brain cancers are made by revealing the cancer growth steps using the animal models. Furthermore, many countries and their affiliated universities have separate ethical committees, which responsible for impose new lows and regulate the conditions of the experimental animals. In addition, these invented new drugs using the animals would have the potential to cure thousands of patients who are suffered from the fatal diseases.
In conclusion, although some people believe that experimental animal involvement for clinical studies and study about the safety profile of the other products are not appropriate considering about the cruelty, already there are several authority bodies such as ethical clearance committees involve to minimize the such harms. Therefore, in my opinion we should use the experimental animal for investigate clinical and safety profile of novel drugs and other products respectively.
