Experiments on species for medicine development and testing products’ safety have become increasingly common in science for several years. It is widely argued that these experiments should be prohibited due to its damage to animals, while other people think this form of experiments is beneficial to humans. I will discuss both views and give my personal viewpoint on this essay.
On the one hand, it seems appropriate to halt experiments on animals. This is primarily because these actions are quite cruel to animals, which has a negative impact on people’s morality. It is evident that numerous campaigns have been organized by ecologists to stop this kind of scientific action for several years. Additionally, science will leave a negatively profound impact on animal lovers if they continue to implement such experiments. As a result, this may lead to more and more acrimonious arguments between scientists and residents loving animals in society.
On the other hand, this experimenting method can be highly beneficial to human beings. Since it plays a pivotal role in inventing new medicines and vaccinations for humans in today’s society when people have to face more severe and complicated plagues and viruses. If scientists had not experimented on animals, they would never have created covid 19 vaccines which save millions of life on Earth. Furthermore, experimenting on animals may be the most feasible manner at present to check the quality and the level of safety before humans’ use, while seek alternatives is quite challenging. In fact, no one dares to use a medicine or get vaccinated if such medicines are not tested on animals, whose living functions are quite similar with those of humans. Indeed, animals’ death because of experiments should be perceived as a form of sacrifice or a similarity to killing animals for meat. Therefore, it is unreasonable to stop using animals for experimenting in science.
In conclusion, whereas using living species in scientific medical experiments seems controversial in society, it can provide humans numerous benefits in healthcare. From my perspective, it is impractical to ban scientists from implementing such experiments because we may face challenges to find alternatives and mis several benefits in development.
