The issue of whether experimenting on animals to ensure safety of various products for humankind is justified or if we should consider these acts as violating other species and stop such experiments. While the argue for banning animal testing has merits, I can see why they are essential and beneficial for humanity.
On the one hand, animals as humans have rights. Harassing any other species with no reasonable agenda needs to be stopped and people need to value all different kinds of life in the planet as it is proven that many of these animals are sensitive and have feelings as much as human beings. moreover, it is believed that individuals can become cruel to their own kind as result of making animals suffer.
On the other hand, we need to value humans more than animals. These days medicines affect most of our lifetime. Life expectancy has grown over the last decade and death rate has dropped down dramatically due to increased number of various vaccines and developed treatment methods. This kind of progress could not be achieved without experimenting on animals. It is unrealistic to assume that we can mass produce any kind of medicine for humans without testing it out first and see its reliability.
In conclusion, it is absolutely true that animals need to be treated with compassion and cannot be experimented for cosmetic or non-important issues. But in my view, there is no alternative and we cannot deny the impact of these tests on matter of health care and development of new medicines.
