Nowadays, the degree of academic performance is very low. Many individuals believe that we should motivate traditional learners to evaluate and criticize their tutors, while others argue that this would result in a lack of hard work and respect among classmates. Although the latter opinion is sensible in some respects, I assert that the former bears greater weight.
Firstly, students should be encouraged to evaluate and criticise their teachers. This is because the quality of education largely depends on teachers’ knowledge and teaching methods. If students are allowed to provide feedback, teachers can identify weaknesses in their lessons and improve their instructional strategies. For instance, a recent report by Maqsut Narikbaev University indicated that constructive student feedback significantly improved teaching performance. Therefore, allowing students to express their opinions can enhance the overall quality of education.
Secondly, some people argue that allowing students to criticise their teachers may lead to a loss of respect and discipline in the classroom. If students openly question their teachers, they may begin to disregard authority and behave inappropriately during lessons. This could negatively affect the learning environment and reduce academic performance. Therefore, maintaining a clear hierarchy between teachers and students is essential for ensuring order and discipline in schools.
In conclusion, while some argue that allowing students to criticise their teachers may damage discipline, others believe it can improve the quality of education. In my view, constructive feedback from students is essential, as it helps teachers enhance their performance and better meet learners’ needs.
