Experience and knowledge are both essential in the workspace for effective and efficient work output. In as much as exposure to a work system contributes to a better performance at the workstation without much mistakes, as compared to the awareness of how to do the job. I believe that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages .
On the one hand, being acquainted with a work system over a period of time has a lot of benefits such as; Minimal mistakes being incurred. One tends to be more focused while discharging once duty. An employee who is familiar with his job tends to work more independently with increased understanding of the work field, maturity and self-confidence which in turn would lead to effectual and efficient work output. For example, becoming a Sunday school teacher at the children’s church with the experience of a classroom teacher makes the whole process less stressful and fun.
On the other hand, choosing experience in the workspace over knowledge has a negative impact on the citizens, society and economy at large. This is so because, most youths seeking employment are unskilled in their field with little or no prowess in the desired field, thereby making them ineligible to secure a job in a firm where experience is of more importance. This will lead to increase in unemployment for youths which would in turn lead to increased crime rate and insecurity in the society as well as difficult economic situations for the people. For example, in Nigeria, there is accelerated crime rate, insecurity, economic hardship, etc due to reasons such as; lack of employment.
In conclusion, I would say that the draw back of appreciating experience more than knowledge in the work zone in some countries outweighs the benefits
