In today’s world, there is a shifting trend among many young individuals in spending their time playing games on electronic phones and gadgets. While it has a few benefits for children, such as enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, I totally believe the drawbacks are more significant and should not be dismissed, as they reduce academic focus and physical activity.
On the one side, playing video games on electronic devices may offer a few advantages. Firstly, some of the games are created for educational purposes: they can improve one’s creativity in which a child utilizes his fanciful strategy skills. Take an example from strategic games, for instance, Generals, where gamers must conceive unexceptionable approaches so that they win the battle. This type of game can heighten resourcefulness abilities. Secondly, video games can provide individuals with amusement, which might be the best way to relax and have fun after a long hard day, especially after school. Therefore, during the game, children can interact with each other, harmonizing with one another, especially if they game together to make a connection for working as a teammate or other purposes. To this end, this would enforce social interaction abilities and future endeavors, which are needed in the current world.
On the other side, the drawbacks of this trend are more crucial. Devoting too much time to screens leads to health issues, such as poor eyesight, insufficient sleep and physical activity. Online games manipulate so strongly that children cannot manage their time and renounce while playing, even at night or before exam night. As a result, after long hours of playing, young offspring do not get enough exercise, which is important for their physical development. Furthermore, being addicted to video games also undermines the academic performance of individuals, as mentioned before, young individuals become addicted to online games and lose their interest in doing homework or preparing for exams, especially the night before. This leads to lower academic grades and poor time management skills.
In conclusion, while the advantages of video games may offer fun, relaxation, or critical thinking capabilities, the downsides, such as health issues and low academic rates, are indisputably serious and should not be overlooked.
