Band 8+: Nowadays, many people communicate using social media and the Internet on a daily basis. However, this has led to an increase in online attacks and cyberbullying. What are some of the reasons why people take part in cyberbullying?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the digital era, the pervasive utilization of social networking has fundamentally revolutionized the way people communicate and connect on the Internet. Nevertheless, it has also given rise to an anxious trend of cyber harassment. This essay will discuss some of the crucial reasons why this phenomenon has occurred.

Firstly, emotional issues could serve as a prominent catalyst for individuals to participate in deverse online interactions. Typically, those engaging in online attacks may be grappling withtheir accounts to repeatedly tease or make fun of online other users to satisfy their jubilant feelings through comments, and messages on all their social networking. This behavior, whether posting rumors, sharing unflattering media, or making derogatory remarks about successful individuals, can lead victims to question their own achievements and worth

Secondly, the anonymity afforded by online media can deceive cyberbullies into believing that their identities are secure, thereby granting them permission to engage in malicious actions. In fact, individuals involved in online attacks and cyberbullying may not recognize the risk of their identity being revealed or the potential legal consequences they may face. This fosters a deep sense of irresponsibility and emboldens them, leading to the perpetuation of online violent behaviors. Consequently, individuals being involved in online intimidation may easily dismiss ethical considerations and social norms, resorting to violent activities verbally on online mediums. In 2021, a female adolescent residing in China committed suicide after six months of exacerbated depression due to the wave of malicious criticism from cyberbullies as typical example of this phenomenon.

In conclusion, while social media provides a variety of convenience in many aspects of human life, it is vital to remain cautious of potential drawbacks such as online attacks and cyberbullying to create a safer and more inclusive online environment for all.
