Primarily, emotional turmoil can significantly contribute to individuals’ engagement in various forms of online aggression. Typically, those involved in online attacks may be grappling with their own insecurities, frustrations, or emotional distress. Nevertheless, instead of seeking constructive methods to address their mental well-being, some may resort to targeting others in virtual platforms , utilizing cyberbullying as a defensive mechanism to alleviate their pent-up emotions. Research indicates that cyberbullies often undergo low self-esteem and struggle to maintain healthy real-life relationships, compelling them to seek solace in the anonymity afforded by the digital realm.

Moreover, the contribution of peer pressure in intensifying perpetuating online aggression and cyberbullying. Within the digital domain, individuals may succumb to peer pressure, leading them to seek recognition through aggressive and malicious behaviors towards their online peers. This phenomenon is exacerbated by the prevalent mounting social pressures in online communities. Consequently, the aspiration to assimilate or gain consensus might induce/lure individuals to get involved in cyberbullying, viewing it as a means to conform to the established norms within their digital social platforms. For example, envision young netizens striving for acceptance from their peers by participating in cyberbullying activities namely online harassment or disseminating detrimental rumors.

In conclusion, while social media offers invaluable benefits in diverse aspects of human life, it is crucial to remain cautious regarding potential pitfalls including online attacks and cyberbullying. By addressing the aforementioned underlying reasons and advocating for a culture of respect and empathy in the digital sphere, we can endeavor to establish a safer and more inclusive online environment for all.
