In this modernized society, the advancement of cutting-edge technology has led to harsh labor market and a myriad of people competing with younger generation for occupation. This phenomenon has culminated in severe drawbacks such as a high risk of unemployment and hindering people from making ends meet. In this essay I will discuss the culprits and propose solutions to alleviate this issue.
It is conspicuous that young generation are more accustomed to the alliance of high-tech facillities and making use of artificial intelligence. They can be exposed to those state-of-the-art devices from an early age. As a result, new generation may gain in-depth knowledge about disruptive innovations and become more familiar with the ever-changing lanscape of technology. Older people, on the contrary, may have difficulty in keeping up with the latest trend and demand of the society, therefore there is little likelihood of them being recruited among young people.
This circumstance can give rise to rising unemployment and making people work even after retiring in order to make ends meet, especially when the cost of living keeps rising day by day. However there are considerable solutions that can mitigate this issue. Firstly, the goverment should increase pension payment for workers who retired so as to prevent the need for work after a certain age. Moreover, laws can be adopted on companies to stop discrimination against older employees. Finally, the government could subsidize the cost of housing and other community services to reduce living expenses.
In conclusion, albeit there is a rising popularity of competition among different age for a profession, I am convinced that if the government take strong measure against age prejudice and offer considerable retirement pension, the living standards of the elderly can be assured and the competitiveness in the workplace will be reduced remarkably.
