some people think that foreign tourists should pay higher fees than local residents to visit cultural and historical sites. While maybe this idea has some advantages, I disagree with it. This essay will explain why I don’t agree with this point.
Firstly, charring foreigners higher fees may discourage tourism development. Tourists have already spent money on airfare, accommodation and other aspects when they arrive in a strange country. If tickets’ prices of cultural attractions are significantly higher than for locals, some tourists may feel unwelcome and may choose to go another country. It will hurt local tourism. In addition, charging foreign tourists high fees may create a feeling of inequality and express a feeing that they are not valued. So opening attractions to everyone at a fair price can helps promote understanding between different countries.
On the other hand, some people may argue that foreign tourists should pay more for the preservation of these historical sites, since the local people have already paid for this part through taxes. Although tourists may cause wear and tear on historical sites, which requires additional funds for conservation and restoration work, this can be addressed through voluntary donations rather than asking foreign visitors to spend more money, which may give them the bad impression that Chinese discriminate against foreigners.
In conclusion, while protect cultural and historical sites is important, charging foreign tourists more fees is not the best solution. Fair prices are good for tourism and for promoting cultural understanding.
